About Me

Welcome to my blog, "Calling Erin to the O.R."! My name is Erin and I just graduated from Florida State University with my Psychology degree.
I've enjoyed college, but now it's time to move on to something else exciting!

My ultimate goal is to become a Physician Assistant (PA), but there are a few more steps to complete in order to reach my goal. I've been accepted into a surgical tech program that will give me the ever-coveted, direct-patient care hours necessary for being accepted into PA school. I also believe this experience will give me invaluable exposure into the world of healthcare, working in a hospital and learning all I can about medicine. The surgical tech program begins August 2011 and ends July 2012. I can't wait to be a scrub, and to tell you all about it!

The great (or not-so-great) thing about my surg. tech program is that it's in my hometown. Yes, I'm one of the 80% of 2011 college grads returning to their childhood nest. Luckily (or not so luckily), I have wonderful parents who will allow me to live at home while I'm continuing my education. Hi Mom! Hi Dad! Please don't drive me crazy/ annoy me/ disturb me...but do continue to give me money/food/shelter :) Great relationship. Going from living with my boyfriend, Kevin...

...to living with my family should be an interesting change. Good thing I love change! (...not.) I will paint a vivid, honest portrait of what it's like moving back home after college.
